A petition is a statement for change with a list of signatures of people who are in favour of the change. Petitioners are people who take the trouble to tell the lawmakers how they feel by signing petitions.

إحدى طرق تغيير القوانين القائمة في الولايات المتحدة هو السماح للمشرعين ومن هم في السلطة ان يعرفوا كيف يشعر الناس من خلال العرائض. والالتماس هو بيان للتغيير مع قائمة من التوقيعات من الناس الذين هم لصالح التغيير. والملتمسين هم الناس الذين اتخاذ عناء إبلاغ المشرعين مشاعرهم من خلال التوقيع على العرائض.
