كيف نكون الأسئلة و الجمل الضمنية? اقرا المثال التالي:

1. Wh-Questions
What is the date? Can you tell me?
Embedded Question: Can you tell me what the date is?
Where did they go? Could you tell us?
Embedded Question: Could you tell us where they went?
Where is she from? Do you know?
Embedded Question: Do you know where she is from?
2. Yes/No Questions
Is she married? Do you know?
Embedded Question: Do you know if she is married?
Does he speak English? Can you tell me?
Embedded Question: Can you tell me if he speaks English?
Did she pass the test? Do you know?
Embedded Question: Do you know if she passed the test?

ملاحظات مهمة:
1. عند تكوين الأسئلة الضمنية نبدأ دائما بالسؤال الثاني
2. صيغة السؤال الثاني يراعى فيها بعض النقاط المهمة:
أ. إذا كان السؤال الثاني wh-question فكلمة السؤال تكتب كما هي كما في الأمثلة الأولى فنكتب how - what - when إلخ.
ب. إذا كان السؤال الثاني من الأسئلة التي اجابتها بنعم أو لا فنضع if كما في الأمثلة الثانية. يمكنك أن تضع whether لكنها تستخدم في الغالب للاختيار مثال:
Does he like tea or coffee? Do you know?
Embedded Question: Do you know whether he likes tea or coffee?

ج. لاحظ بعض التغييرات على سبيل المثال:
did + go = went
does + speak speaks
did + pass = passed
ب. يأخذ السؤال ترتيب الجملة العادية بمعنى أن الفاعل يكتب أولاً ثم الفعل مثل
it is وليس is it ولكن انتبه عند صياغة المبني للمجهول وذلك عند ربط جملة بسؤال أو جملتين ببعضهما مثال:
When was the letter sent? Do you remember?
Embedded Question: Do you remember when the letter was sent?
Was the letter sent? I don't know
Embedded Statement: I don't know if the letter was sent.
3. هذا النوع من الجمل يسمى إما الأسئلة الضمنية embedded questions أو الجمل الضمنية embedded statements
الأسئلة questions في الغالب تكون:
Do you know
Do you remember
Can you tell me
Could you tell me
الجمل statements في الغالب تكون:
I don't know
I can't remember
I'm not sure
Please tell me
I have no idea
