Science Test 1 – Middle 6th B – What are Cells?Whay do they do?

1. (4 p) Name 5 body systems and describe the function of 3 of them.
Integumentary, Muscular, Skeletal, Nervous, Endocrine, Circulatory, Lymphatic, Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive.
2. (2 p) Fill in the blanks:
The basic unit of life is called: The Cell.
A group of cells working together form tissues, which are grouped together to form an organ.
There are two types of cells, which is determine by the presence or absence of the nucleus.
3. (2 p) Name two important life processes that happen in any cell.
Getting energy from food, getting rid of wastes, reproducing into new cells.
4. (2.5 p) For the picture below, identify 5 parts:

5. (2 p) Why is the nucleus so important for the cell?
Because the nucleus is the control center of the cell. It control all the functions and activities of the cell because it carroes the genetic information in the form of DNA.
6. (2 p) What is Diffusion? And, what is its relation with Osmosis?
Diffusion is the passage of a substance from one side of the membrane to the other. Osmosis is the diffusion of water. As water is a very important molecule, it receives its own name for diffusion.
7. (1 p) What does semipermeable mean?
It means that it only allows the passage of certain particles, not all of them. Usually determined by the size of the particles.
8. (2 p) Name the four types of body tissues.
Muscle, Nervous, Connective, and Nervous.
9. (2.5 p) What are the two types of cells? What is its relation with unicellular and multicellular organisms?
Prokaryotes (no nucleus), and Eukaryotes (with nucleus and membrane-bound organelles). Prokaryotes are all unicellular organisms, whereas eukaryotes can be unicellular or multicellular.

BONUS QUESTION
(1 p) Using the picture below, determine two additional levels of organization beyond organism.

Communities then Ecosystems.
(2 p) Why was the microscope important in the discovery of cells and The Cell Theory?
Because it was thanks to the microscope that the cells were discovered as the units of life of all living things. And it was necessary to determine the three parts of The Cell Theory.

picture and infer all the information you can from it.

1. Pulmonary circulation from the right side of the heart to the lungs.
2. The exchange of gases occurs in the blood in the lungs.
3. The oxygenated blood returns to the left side of the heart to be pumped to the rest of the body.
4. Oxygenated blood is transported to the rest of the body through the arteries.
5. Oxygenated blood is delivered to the cells by the capillaries and there is an exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide.
6. The unoxygenated blood returns to the heart in the veins.
