My dream house
If you ask most people about their dream house, they will say that they dream of building a high-tech house provided with all means of comfort. However, if you ask me about this matter, I will give you a different answer. I wish I could build a house in Makkah near the Holy Mosque. I just want a very simple house with a small garden. I will make it from mud-bricks. Everyone knows that mud-brick houses are suitable for hot climate because they don't conduct heat well, so the inside stays cool. They are also easy and cheap to construct. I do believe Makah is an ideal location for my dream house. Living near the Holy Mosque is an advantage in itself as I will be able to pray the five daily prayers in the Holy Mosque which is the most revered place of worship for all Muslims. I will also do Umra from time to time and make Hajj every year.

مستر/ عصام الجاويش 27-04-2010, 11:23 PM A LETTER TO TOM (page 21)
Dear Tom,
How are you? I hope you are well.
I'm writing you this letter to invite you to visit Egypt next summer. Egypt, as everyone knows, is one of the most civilized countries in the Middle East. When you come to it, you will surely have a good time because our country has all means of comfort and entertainment. We have wonderful beaches in Alexandria, El-Arish, Hurghada, Taba, Sharm El-Sheikh and Dahab. You will have a golden chance to go diving in Hurghada. It will be an experience you will never forget. I needn't remind you of the fact that Egypt is the land of romance, culture and history. It is an open museum where you can see the most wonderful monuments in the world wherever you go. I am sure you will visit the Pyramids, Sphinx, the Valley of Kings and the Karnak Temple. The best thing about Egypt is its people. You will find us hospitable, friendly, helpful and kind-hearted. I am really eager to see you in Egypt.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours,
Hesham Hamdy

Dear Fahd,
How are you? I hope you are well.
I'm writing you this letter to tell you about my favourite hobbies. All my friends know that I'm fond of reading, writing short stories, and using the internet for chatting with friends from different countries. I like reading very much as it is the key to knowledge. Reading adds a lot to my store of knowledge and helps me to understand everything happening around me. The book , as everyone knows, is the best friend that never lets us down. All kinds of books appeal to me. My second hobby is writing short stories. I write adventure stories as they appeal to a large number of people. My third hobby is using the internet for chatting with people from different countries. I have friends from the USA, the UK, Japan, and Germany. We make internet conversations every day. We benefit from each other as we exchange ideas. I also use the internet for my studies. Our teachers ask us to do researches. Without the help of the internet, I wouldn't be able to do such researches.
With my best wishes.
Yours,
Ahmed Mohamed

"The world famous Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy"
Hassan Fathy, who was born in Alexandria in 1900 and died in Cairo in 1989, is Egypt's best known architect since Imhotep. He is married to Aziza Hassanein, he left no direct descendants. He was a noted Egyptian architect who pioneered appropriate technology for building in Egypt, especially by working to re-establish the use of mud brick. Fathy trained as an architect in Egypt, graduating in 1926 from the University of King Fuad I (now the University of Cairo). He designed his first mud brick buildings in the late 1930s. He held several government positions and was appointed head of the Architectural Section of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cairo, in 1954. Fathy was recognized with the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1980. Fathy utilized ancient design methods and materials. He integrated a knowledge of the rural Egyptian economic situation with a wide knowledge of ancient architectural and town design techniques. He trained local inhabitants to make their own materials and build their own buildings. Climatic conditions, public health considerations, and ancient craft skills also affected his design decisions. Based on the structural massing of ancient buildings, Fathy incorporated dense brick walls and traditional courtyard forms to provide passive cooling.
