New accusations against Mubarak, Nazif
CAIRO: Egypt’s attorney general has transferred a lawsuit against former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to the north Damanhur attorney.
Mubarak and Nazif are accused of wasting public funds, deliberately damaging agricultural crops such as wheat and cotton and importing carcinogenic agricultural medicines and fertilizers.
The lawsuit also said that under Mubarak’s regime agricultural lands were demolished and reduced, resulting in a decrease of wheat production from 8 million tons to 3 million tons. Egypt also resorted to importing wheat containing carcinogens.
Many carcinogenic wheat shipments were detected in 2009.
The lawsuit also accused Mubarak’s regime of destroying cotton agriculture in Egypt and reducing the acres of cotton from one million acres to only 330,000.
Mubarak and Nazif are also accused of importing carcinogenic agricultural medicines and fertilizers into Egypt, which caused many tumors.
The lawsuit said Mubarak and Nazif gained large personal funds from these transactions.
