أتفق معك تماما فيما تقول

...... لكن يمكن أيضا استخدام المستقبل التام ، مثل :
SB p.97 Ex.3 L. e
They’ll have invented new ways of generating electricity

SB p.92 Ex.1 No. 7

By the year 2100, millions of trees and hundreds of forests will have been saved
SB p.92 Ex.4 L. b
By 2050, most old buildings will have been replaced by modern offices

Most outside books deal with “by + time” as a basic indicator for the future perfect, but in Sec 3 Advanced Level, “by” can also indicate the future simple. I teach students to decide whether it’s an ongoing action or a completed action to choose, but they still find it difficult in some sentences such as:0
By 2020, man will (use / have used) alternative sources of energy
By 2030, trips to space (will be / will have been) arranged. Is there an easier way to explain it

I can’t think of any easier explanation. Yours is correct. The problem seems to lie in the sentences given in exercises and tests. In your sentence (1), will is correct because we understand that this means that alternative sources of energy will still be in use at that time. But in (2) there is more difficulty. Is the intended meaning that space travel will be regulary arranged? Then the simple future is appropriate. Is the intended meaning that the arrangements for some trips in space will be completed by that time? Then the future perfect is appropriate. I don’t think (2) is a good sentence, since there is already talk now of arranging trips in space. Will it become regular enough in the next 18 years to warrant a simple future verb tense here? That remains to be seen

Sec 3 SB, page 96: Why didn’t you use the future perfect tense in this sentence? “English will be spoken by half the world’s population by 2050.” I have been taught that “by + year” is a keyword for the future perfect

When I was studying for my master’s degree in TEFL, I never came across this “keyword” method of teaching. In fact, I never saw it until I came to Egypt. It is one of the features of “cookbook English” — without thinking of the meaning, students memorize and apply “rules” that are incorrectly stated or overgeneralized and which lead to monstrosities of language

By + year can go with any number of verb tenses. The future perfect is used to talk about something that will be completed by a time in the future. English will be spoken is not something that will be completed then. It will be an ongoing activity, and that is why the future perfect is not used
Question 3
I get confused between the future perfect and the future tense. What is the difference in meaning? The bus will have left before we reach the station. The bus will leave before we reach the station

The future perfect is used to talk about an action completed in the past in the future. In the sentences you give, using before in the time clause, either verb form can be used. The bus will leave and then we will reach the station. But change before to when and you will see the difference.
(1) The bus will leave when we reach the station.
(2) The bus will have left when we reach the station.

In (1), the two actions will happen at the same time, or it may be understood that the bus will leave immediately after we reach the station. There is some ambiguity as to whether we will catch the bus.

In (2), the bus will leave and then we will reach the station. The action of leaving will be completed (in the past) in the future time that we are talking about. In (2), we definitely will not catch the bus.
