the past perfect can be used with before to emphasize the completion or expected completion of an action. Before Ali came ,I had finished my homework. هنا نبين ان الحدث الاول هو finish ووضع فى هذا المكان لنبين انه انتهى قبل حدوث الفعل الثانى came بمعنى ان الحدث الذى بدا الاول finish وانتهى الاول قبل حدوث الفعل came Before I had finished my homework , Ali came. الحدث الذى بدا الاول هو finish ولكن الذى انتهى الاول هو came بمعنى ان بدات انهى واجبى وقبل ان انهيه جاء على اما المثال الاول انهيت واجبى قبل ان ياتى على |

(وان كنت اعتقد انه يجوز استخدام المضارع التام فكان من الافضل عدم طرح المضارع التام في الاختيارات |

They decided to get married last week although they ... each other for only five months. (have known - had known - know - would know)
ده رد محرر لونجمان علي السؤال ده The knowing took place before the decision, so the past perfect should be used: had known. That is how I would answer it in the absence of any more context. However, a native speaker might use the present perfect if they know that the decision was made but the marriage didn’t take place yet (as if the sentence were “They’re going to get married although they have known each other for only five months”). So it’s possible that you would hear such a construction from someone. |

بخصوص الفرق بين /work in -at -for /Write IN -Write FOR
(1) He writes in a magazine called Egypt Today. (Sec 1, unit 1 tapescript, TG page 15) (2) He writes for a magazine called Egypt Today. What's the difference between "work for" and "work in" and between "write in" and "write for"? ده رد المحرر First, all of these are grammatically correct. Sentence (1) would most likely be used for someone who writes freelance and publishes in a magazine. They don’t work as an employee of the magazine. Sentence (2) could be used for someone who writes either as a freelancer or as an employee. With the verb work, you could use for, at, or in to say the name of your employer if it is a company or corporation. If you work for an individual owner (or, say, as a household servant), you would more likely use for. You can also use work in to say your field of work, not your employer. He works in banking. She works in IT (information technology). |

What is the difference in meaning of "advantages for" and "advantages to"? What advantages are there for companies who sell their things online? Can you think of any advantages to online shopping ده الرد Advantages for — says who is intended to get the advantages. It is the companies selling online who get the advantages. Advantages to — says what or who the advantages are related to. We are talking about advantages related to online shopping. Sec 2, unit 3 tapescript: "He's often told me to look on the internet because things are often less expensive online." Why did he use ''often'' with the present perfect tense وده الرد The present perfect can be used for something that happened at an indefinite time in the past, or for something that started in the past and continues to the present. Here I understand the speaker to mean that his father told him this (repeatedly) at some unspecified time in the past, and perhaps he is implying that he expects his father will continue to repeat the advice هل تتفق مع الرد ؟؟. |

ما راى حضرتك مستر نبيل قلت ردا على سؤال The thief escaped through the window عند بناؤها للمجهول
نعلم ان الفعل المتعدى هو الذى يبنى للمجهول لان هناك مفعول اما الفعلا للازم لا يبنى للمجهول لان هناك لا يوجد مفعول الا اذا جاء بعد الفعل حرف جر واسم فيكونا شبه جمله فى محل نصب مفعول به ويكون الاسم محل المفعول We slept in this bed. This bed was slept in by us. Everyone laughed at his plans. His plans were laughed at by everyone. مقياشا على ذلك The window was escaped through by the thief. المرجع Comprehensive English Grammar شكرا جزيلا لحضرتك |

In Year Two WB, page 12, Ex 2, section 4, it is written "It is easy and sometimes cheaper." I think it must be written "it is easier" to keep the structure parallel. الرد |
