فى هذه المشاركة اقدم لكم طريقة سهلة جدا لمعرفة الفرق بين استخدام الصيغتين الآتيتين
a three-day holiday
thee days' holiday
طبعا الفرق فى الإعراب وليس فى المعنى فالمعنى يكاد يكون متطابق
عموما الشرح تجدونه فى المرفقات

The singular form is also correct with the first case:

e.g. I`ve got a week`s holiday starting on Monday.

بعد إذن حضرتك Mr/Horizon أرد على السؤال
على حسب شرح المصدر The Infinitive الموجود فى كتاب
Practical English Usage
هناك صيغ متعددة للمصدر

1- المصدر البسيط Simple Infinitive
I'm proud to help to build a modern country

2- المصدر المستمر Progressive Infinitive
I'm proud to be helping to build a modern country
It's nice to be sitting here with you

3- المصدر التام Perfect Infinitive
I'm proud to have helped to build a modern country
It's nice to have finished work

الفرق فى المعنى كما هو الفرق تماما بين الأزمنة البسيطة والمستمرة والتامة.
كما أن هناك أيضا الصيغ التالية للمصدر:

4- المصدر المبنى للمجهول Passive Infinitive
There's a lot of work to be done
She ought to be told about it
That window must be repaired before tonight

5- المصدر المنفى Negative Infinitive
Try not to be late

وهناك أيضا صيغ للمصدر تحتوى على تركيبات مختلطة من الصيغات السابقة ولكن أرجو من أبنائى الطلاب ألا يلتفتوا إليها ولا يلقوا لها بالا (مايشغلوش دماغهم بيها) فهى صيغ معقدة وقليلة الإستخدام

6- المصدر التام المستمر Perfect Progressive Infinitive
I'd like to have deen sitting there while she was walking

7- المصدر التام المبنى للمجهول Perfect Passive Infinitive
They were lucky. They could have been killed

8- المصدر المستمر المبنى للمجهول Progressive Passive Infinitive
هذا النوع أقل شيوعا وإستخداما
What would you like to be doing now? I'd like to be being massaged

9- المصدر التام المستمر المبنى للمجهول Perfect Progressive Passive Infinitive
لكن هذا النوع نادر جدا ولا يكاد يستخدم
It must have been being built at the time

أرجو أن يكون الغرض من السؤال أتضح
وأن يكون مفهوم المصدر الآن أصبح واضحا
وأن المصدر أكثر إتساعا ومعنى مما يتخيل الكثير من الطلاب
وأنه ليس مجرد To+the base form of the verb

شكرا لمستر علاء الدين على هذا الشرح المفصل والمعلومات القيمة التى عرضها وليسمح لى بأن أوضح الامر بطريقة أخرى

وبخصوص السؤال عن سبب استخدام ing هنا
يمكن توضيح الأمر كالتالى:

الجملة الأصلية قبل أن تدخل عليه I'm proud to كانت كالتالى:
I'm helping to build a modern country
أى أن زمن الجملة الأصلية كان Present Continuous أى أن المساعدة مستمرة من المتحدث
بعد ذلك أدخلنا عليها I'm proud to وطبعا يأتى بعدها الفعل فى المصدر

يوحد احتمالين دائما يفكر فيهما الطالب
الأحتمال الأول : هو أن يستخدم المصدر من helping ونتجاهل am
فتصبح الجملة
I'm proud to help to build a modern country

وبالطبع الجملة لا تعنى أن الشخص يقوم بعمل شيء الآن وإنما يتحدث عن مجرد عادة أو أحداث متكررة أو عن استعداده للقيام بحدث بمعنى أنه يشعر بالفخر فى أى وقت يقوم به بالساعدة لبناء بلده. وبالتالى استخدم معها المضارع البسيط
وبالطبع فإن هذه الصيغة خطأ (لاننا فقدنا معنى أننا مستمرين فى المساعدة ولم ننجز بعد)

الإحتمال الثانى (الصحيح)
انه يريد الاحتفاظ بمعنى الإستمرار فى المساعدة وبالتالى لا يمكن حذف am لأنه بدونها مع الـ ing لا يوجد أزمنه مستمرة وبالتالى يجب أن تدخل صيغة I'm proud to على am وتحولها إلى مصدر لتصبح be
فيقول
I'm proud to be helping to build a modern country
وتكون هذه الجملة هى الصحيحة لأنه احتفظ بالمعنى الأصلى للجملة التى تعبر عن القيام بحدث يقع لحظة أو حول لحظة التكلم ولم ينتهى بعد
أرجوأ أن يكون الترتيب الذى عرضت به الموضوع قد ساهم فى توضيح الأمر

نفس الشيء يقال إذا كانت الجملة مبنى للمجهول فيجب ادخال الصيغ التى يستخدم بعدها مصدر أو ing على verb to be وليس الفعل الرئيسى حتى لا يضيع معنى الـ Passive من الجملة الأصلية ويمكن توضيح الامر فيما بعد

Exchanging and sharing our knowledge and experience is one of the aims of this forum. We do learn from each other. I feel very happy when I give a piece of information on the forum, but my greatest fear is that the receiver would think of it as interference or FAZLAKA.


I have an idea of starting a (fixed) page entitled:


It should be about anything related to the English language (not only the syllabus).
The presenter of the piece of information has to mention the source.

This is my first participation on that page (if we can make it a fixed page):

Only yesterday I found out that we can use BEFORE (not only WHEN) after HARDLY and SCARCELY when we deal with PAST PERFECT, whether hardly or scarcely come at the beginning of the sentence [the inversion rule] or not.

e.g. The concert had hardly begun before all the lights went out.

The source of information is
Cambridge`s Advanced Grammar in Use by Martin Hewings, Unit 94 C, page 188.

Excellent Idea Mr Essam
I liked the idea so much. But let's think of an ideal way to present it. For example
- Choosing the division of the department to present it (e.g. second year or English Teachers' room)
- Putting rules for those who add a reply (For example: Don't say "It is something I knew long time ago (FAZLAKA); It is not knew. We ask them to appreciate, nogatiate or discuss
- We ask the supervisors to make the subject "sticky / fixed"
Let's have time (may be till later today or tomorrow) and I think it will be something new
- The subject should be presented by YOU "MR ESSAM ABDOU" as you are the creator of the idea and I'll be honoured to participate.
Today I'm busy working on finishing and declaring "the first year secondary" resultS in my school (I work in the "CONTROL" using Excel & Acess to finish it and to issue the "FINAL SHEET & REPORTS"
