I believe Ken Wilson sums it up best in The Columbia Guide to Standard American English (3): Than is both a subordinating conjunction, as in She is wiser than I am, and a preposition, as in She is wiser than me.... Since the following verb am is often dropped or “understood,” we regularly hear than I and than me. Some commentators believe that the conjunction is currently more frequent than the preposition, but both are unquestionably Standard.So remember, than he and than him are both defensible, but not all grammar mavens feel this way. Than I versus Than Me.
Than, as used in comparatives, has traditionally been considered a conjunction; as such, if you're comparing subjects, the pronouns after than should take the "subjective case." سابدا بحل الجمل والله ورسوله اعلم
الجمله الاولي حلها before علي اساس ان by the timeلا يتبعها اسما او فعلا متبوعا بing عكس وضع before الجمله الثانيه اصلها مضارع تام مستمروعند تطبيق المبني للمجهول لاياتي من هذا الزمن مبني للمجهول ولذلك فاقرب زمن له هو المضارع التام البسيط ولذا فالحل هو has been cooked والجمله التي بعد than هي i'm |

find the mistake by the time leaving the party,he insulted all the attendants The correct answer is : Before leaving the party , he insulted all the attendants. التفسير : يمكن لــBefore أن يتبعها ماضى بسيط ، ماضر بسيط . he is richer than meلكن الماضى البسيط الآخر المفترض أن يكون فى زمن الماضى التام أتى فى صيغة البسيط لأنه مفهوم أنه تم قبل الحدث الثانى . بطريقة أخرى : الحدث الأول فى الجملة السابقة : إهانة الحاضرين (يمكن أن يستخدم فى صيغة الماضى التام أو البسيط ) الحدث الثانى هو المغادرة و بالتالى فإنه قبل المغادره ، أهان كل الحاضرين (لاحظ أن استخدام before هنا حرف جر لأنها تبعت بفعل مضاف له ing) الجملة الثانية : The correct answer is : He is richer than I (am ) التفسير: يا جماعة كلمة than رابط تتبع بجملة و لا يمكن أن تكون حرف جر تتبع ب مفعول و لذا فيمكن أن تتبع بــ I أو I am choose the dinner ............ by mom for 2 hours now has been cooked has been being cooked is in the action of being cooked is being cooked التفسير : الجملة زمن مضارع تام مستمر بسبب for ... now كما أن الجملة تعبر عن حدث بدأ فى الماضى و مازال مستمرا إلى الحاضر و بما أن الجملة مبنية للمجهول فإننا نستخدم صيغة المبنى للمجهول فى زمن المضارع التام المستمر وهى have / has been being + P.P |
