a, an, the

هذه الثلاثة حروف التي تساعدنا على توضيح التعريف من عدمه للشئ

ولنفهم أكثر لنتعرف على وظيفة كل منهم.

a

تستخدم للشي الغير معرف (شئ غير محدد، واحد من عدد من نفس الأشياء).
ويستخدم هذا الحرف مع الأشياء ذات الحروف الساكنة

أمثلة:


She has a dog.
I work in a factory.

مثلها تماما مثل الـ a فهي تستخدم للشي الغير معرف (شئ غير محدد، واحد من عدد من نفس الأشياء).
ولكن الفرق أنها تستخدم مع الحروف المتحركة
(a,e,i,o,u)

أمثلة:

She is an English teacher.

وهذا ما يستخدم للتعريف (شئ محدد يعرفه كل من المتحدث والمستمع)

عندما تتحدث عن شئ للمرة الأولى استخدم "a or an" (كل حسب الحرف التالي) ولكن في المرة التالية عندما تريد تكرار الحديث عن نفس الشئ استخدم

I live in a house. The house is quite old and has four bedrooms.

I ate in a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant was very good.

- لا تستخدم أبدا حرفا من هذه الحروف مع: البلدان، الولايات، المقاطعات، البحيرات، الجبال إلا إذا كانت مثلا البلد عبارة عن عدة ولايات مثل الولايات المتحدة:
"The United States".

أما عدا ذلك فلا يضاف شئ

أمثلة:

He lives in Washington near Mount Rainier.
They live in northern British Columbia.

- استخدم حروف التعريف أو التنكير مع الأجسام المائية، المحيطات والبحور.

أمثلة:

My country borders on the Pacific Ocean

لا تستخدم هذه الحروف عند التحدث عن الأشياء بصفة عامة.

أمثلة:

I like Russian tea.
فهنا أنا أحب الشاي الروسي عامة.. لا أحدد نوعا، لذا لا استخدم أي من تلك الحروف.

She likes reading books.
هنا ايضا هي تحب قراءة الكتب بصفة عامة.. لذا لا نستخدم أي من حروف التعريف أو التنكير

- لا تستخدم حروف التعريف والتنكير عند التحدث عن الوجبات، الأماكن والمواصلات.

أمثلة:

He has breakfast at home.
