السر الأولLearn about word stress
أي تعلم نبرة الكلمات .

نبرة الكلمات والمقصود بها التشديد على بعض الحروف في الكلمة الواحده ، وتعتبر المفتاح الذهبي للتحدث بالإنجليزي وفهم هذه اللغة .
وهي أفضل الطرق لفهم المتحدثين بها خاصة إذا صادفت أحد يتكلم اللغة الإنجليزية بسرعة .
مثال لو أخذنا ثلاث كلمات :
photograph , photographer , photographic
هل نطقها متشابه ؟
لا ، إنما مختلف والإختلاف يكون في النبرة يعني في التشديد على بعض الحروف في الكلمة الواحدة ، حيث أن الكلمة الواحدة أحيانا تحتوي على مقطعين أو عدة مقاطع وبعض هذه المقاطع عند نطقها نشدد عليها أكثر من غيرها .
بالنسبة للمثال السابق الحروف اللي بأكتبها بالكابيتل ليتر هي اللي بنشدد عليها

يعني لإتقان نطق الكلمات لازم نعرف أي الحروف في الكلمة هي اللي نشدد عليها ونعرف مقاطع الكلمة الواحدة مع العلم إن بعض الكلمات تكون قصيرة ولا تتقسم إلى مقاطع .
عادة يوضح القاموس مقاطع الكلمات وكيفية نطقها والمطلوب منا إننا نحاول نسمع كيفية نطق الكلمات والتشديد على بعض الحروف دون الآخر في الراديو أو من خلال الأفلام .
خطوتنا الأولى إننا نسمع ونتعرف على النطق الصحيح بعد كدا نستطيع نطقها زي ما ينطقها أهلها .

السر الثاني : Sentence Stress

التشديد في الجملة .


التشديد على بعض الكلمات في الجملة الواحدة هو المفتاح الذهبي الثاني لفهم اللغة الإنجليزية والتحدث بها .

كيف يكون التشديد في الجملة ؟

المقصود فيه إن بعض الكلمات في الجملة الواحدة نقرأها بصوت أعلى من الكلمات الأخرى .

مثال الجملة التالية :

We want to go

هل نقرأ كل كلمة في هذه الجملة بنفس القوة أي بنفس مستوى الصوت ؟

لا ، إنما نقرأ الكلمات المهمة بصوت أعلى من الكلمات الأخرى .

بالنسبة للمثال الكلمات المهمة فيه نعرفها حسب معنى الجملة وهي : want / go

في هذه الجمل الكلمات المهمة والتي ستقرأ بصوت أعلى ستكون بالكبيتل لتر :

We WANT to GO

We WANT to GO to WORK

We DON' T WANT to GO to WORK

We DON' T WANT to GO to WORK at NIGHT

من الصعب أننا نشرح كل شيء عن التشديد في الجمل هنا .
لكن من المهم معرفتها لتحسين النطق باللغة الإنجليزية .

السر الثالث : Listen ! Listen ! Listen !

استمع ! استمع ! استمع !


البعض يقول أحيانا : أنا لا أستمع إلى أخبار BBC على الراديو لأنهم يتحدثون بسرعة ولا أستطيع فهم ما يقولون .
عندما تجدهم يتحدثون بسرعة ولا تفهم لكلامهم هذا بالضبط يوضح حاجتك للاستماع إليهم.

كيف تتطور و أنت لا تستمع ولا تتدرب ؟

عندما كنت طفل رضيع هل كنت تفهم لغتك الأم ؟ عندما كان عمرك ثلاثة أسابيع
أو شهران أو حتى سنة واحدة هل كنت تفهم كل شيء ؟
بالطبع لا ، لكن لكي تتعلم فهم اللغة يجب أن تستمع إليها .
فكر بهذا ، أنت تعلمت اللغة العربية وذلك بالاستماع إليها 24 ساعة في
اليوم وسبعة أيام بالأسبوع بعد هذا كله تعلمت كيف تتحدث ثم تعلمت
كيف تقرأ وأخيرا كيف تكتب . * لكن الاستماع جاء أولا

لا تستمع .


في السر الثالث قلنا استمع بس الان نقول لا تستمع ؟

ما المقصود بهذا ؟

في البداية هل تعرفون الفرق بين الفعل ( to listen ) والفعل ( to hear ) ؟

To listen : يعتبر صيغة المعلوم معناه بالعربي ( يستمع )

To hear : يعتبر صيغة المجهول معناه بالعربي ( يسمع )


أحيانا يكون الاستماع صعب جدا ويحتاج لجهد ، وفي بعض الأوقات يكون من الأفضل أن نسمع فقط .
كيف يعني ؟ نترك الراديو يعمل أو نشغل أي شريط باللغة الإنجليزية بس طبعا مايكون أغاني ولكن لا نستمع فقط نسمع في هذه الحالة نجد أن اللاوعي يستمع بدلا منا وسنظل نتعلم ، إذا استمعنا وحاولنا أن نفهم يمكن مانلقط إلا كلمة وحده بس ويخيب أملنا .
لاتخافو بس اسمعوا ، صدقوني بنستمر نتعلم بهذه الطريقة الشيء المهم إننا نترك الراديو يعمل أو الشريط أو التلفزيون و نسمع للمحادثات باللغة الإنجليزية وأنت لا تسوي شي المخ هو اللي راح يشتغل ويسمع واللاوعي عندنا هو اللي بيسمع ويتعلم .

السر الخامس : Improve your vocabulary with 5 words a day .

طور مخزونك في الكلمات وذلك بخمس كلمات في اليوم الواحد

زيادة معلوماتك في الكلمات شيء سهل ...... كيف تابعوا معي
كم يوما في السنة ؟ عادة 365 يوم ، فلو تعلمت في كل يوم خمس كلمات جديدة بيصير الناتج النهائي في السنة حوالي 1825 كلمة يعني كم كبير من المعلومات هاد غير الكلمات التي من الممكن تعلمها بطرق أخرى بواسطة القراءة أو المحادثة أو الإستماع أو غيره.
اشتر دفتر ملاحظات وسجلو فيه خمس كلمات جديدة في كل يوم وتعلمها وقريبا يكون مستوى الكلمات عندك ممتاز .

السر السادس : 30 Minutes A Day Better Than 3.5 Hours A Week .

ثلاثون دقيقة باليوم الواحد خير من ثلاث ساعات ونصف الساعة بالأسبوع .


في الحقيقة فإن دراسة اللغة الإنجليزية نصف ساعة في اليوم الواحد خير من ثلاث ساعات ونصف بالأسبوع ، فالدراسة المنتظمة واليومية أفضل بكثير من الدراسة من وقت لآخر وتكون بالإضافة لهذا أسهل .
فإنه لمن السهل إيجاد نصف ساعة باليوم للدراسة وتكون ثابتة بحيث لو خصصنا لها أن تكون بالعصر تكون بنفس الوقت من كل يوم فالانتظام بالدراسة هو المهم .

الاعمال الكاملة لموليير

جون باتيست بوكلان (بالفرنسية: Jean-Baptiste Poquelin) الملقب موليير (Molière) عاش (باريس 1622- 1673 م) هو مؤلف كوميدي مسرحي فرنسي.
حياته
كان أبوه يعمل مُنَجِدا للملك لويس الثالث عشر، امتهن "موليير" حرفة أبيه في بداية أمره، ثم أدخله أبوه ليتعلم ويتتلمذ على يد رهبان الطائفة اليسوعية في كلية كليرمون (Clermont)، وكانت هذه مرحلة مهمة في تكوين شخصيته، فقد تلقى فيها مبادئ العلوم الأساسية والفلسفة، كما تعلم اللغة اللاتينية فقرأ عن طريقها الأعمال المسرحية التي تم نشرها في وقته، تابع بعدها دراسات في الحقوق قبل يقرر التفرغ للمسرح.
قام بالتعاون مع عائلة "بيجار" (Béjart) -وهي من العوائل العريقة في فن التمثيل- بتأسيس فرقة "المسرح المتألق" (l'Illustre Théâtre- (1643-، واتخذ في هذه الفترة لقب "موليير" الذي لاصقه طيلة حياته، إلا أنه ونظرا لكثرة المنافسين ونقص الخبرة فضل وفرقته الانسحاب من الساحة ولو مؤقتا. قام وعلى مدى الخمسة عشر عاما التالية (1643-1658) بقيادة فرقة جديدة من الممثلين المتجولين، أدت هذه الفرقة أولى أعماله الكوميدية، لاقت عروضها نجاحا جماهيريا، فبدأ نجم موليير في الصعود. احتك أثناء هذه المرحلة بأناس من مختلف الطبقات، وقد ساعده ذلك عندما عبر عن خلاصة استقراءه لشخصيات البشر من خلال مسرحياته الساخرة.
اقتبس "موليير" معظم أعماله الأولى -المغفل (l'Étourdi، (1655؛ ظعينة المحبة (le Dépit amoureux، (1656- من المسرح الهزلي الإيطالي، والذي كان رائجا آنذاك، كانت مواضيعه تتعرض بروح ساخرة إلى الحياة اليومية للناس. بعد مرحلة التنقل و التِرحال الدائم في مدن الجنوب الفرنسي (ليون، رُوان)، قرر موليير الاستقرار سنة 1659 م في باريس بعد أن أصبح يتمتع برعاية خاصة من الملك لويس الرابع عشر، قام بتقديم عدة عروض مسرحية نثرية وشعرية للبلاط الملكي ولجمهور المشاهدين الباريسيين، كتب أعمالا خاصة ومتنوعة في كل أصناف الكوميديا التي كانت معروفة في عصره: كوميديا الباليه، الكوميديا الرَعَوِية (تصور حياة الرعاة في الريف)، الكوميديا البطولية وغيرها. تزوج سنة 1662 م من شقيقة مادلين بيجار، إحدى رفيقاته السابقات في الفرقة، ثم تواصلت مسيرته وقدم آخر أعماله "المريض الوهمي" عام 1673 م، ليفارق الحياة ساعات فقط بعد تقديم العرض الرابع لهذه المسرحية.

أعماله
كان "موليير" ممثلا ومديرا للفرقة في نفس الوقت، ساهم بقدر كبير في وضع أصول الإخراج المسرحي، من خلال إدارته وتوجيهاته الدقيقة لأداء الممثلين على خشبة المسرح. أما عنه كمؤلف فقد قام لأجل خدمة أعماله الكوميدية وتوصيل أفكاره إلى جمهور المشاهدين، بتوظيف كل أنواع ودرجات الفكاهة، من المقالب السخيفة وحتى المعالجة النفسية الأكثر تعقيدا. هاجم في أعماله المشهورة الرذيلة المتفشية في أوساط المجتمع، وكان يقوم بخلق شخصية محورِية تتوفر فيها هذه الصِفات، وتدور حولها أحداث القصة.
من أهم أعماله الكوميدية:

هذه هى السونيته رقم 18 الشهيرة التى يبدأ فيها شكسبير بعقد

مقارنة بين جمال محبوبته واعتدال الجو فى يوم من أيام الصيف

الأنجليزى ثم ينكر هذه المقارنة لأن الصيف فصل متقلب وينتهى الى

ان محبوبته تكسر حدود الزمن لأن الشاعر قد خلدها فى قصيدته

التى لابد أن يكتب لها الخلود فى رأيه وأن ينشدها الناس على مر الزمان.

ولد غابرييل غارسيا مركيز عام 1928 في أراكاتا شمال كولومبيا ،ونشأ نشأة فقيرة
درس في بوغوتا العاصمة وعمل صحفياً بعد تخرجه في الجامعة .

وقد جاب "مركيز" الكثير من بلدان العالم أهمها إيطالبا وفرنسا ، وقد لفتت كتاباته النظر إلى كولومبيا والأدب الكولومبي .
من المعروف عن الأديب الكولومبي مناصرته للحق العربي والجانب الفلسطيني في الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي ، وقد عبر عن ذلك بإعلانه رفض جائزة نوبل التي حازها شخص كـ "مناحم بيجين" .

ما أصل كلمة ok ؟ هل هي اختصاراً ؟ وماذا تعني كلمة ok؟

سنجيب على هذه الأسئلة بالأراء التالية :
نظرية Old.Kinder hook : هذه النظرية هي الأقرب للحقيقة على حسب رأي الأغلبية، فيقال ان شخصاً يدعى مارتن فان بارن ( Martin Van Buren ) وهو أحد أبناء منطقة تسمى Kinderhook ، وكان مارتن يلقب بـ ( Old.Kinder hook ) نسبة لمنطقتة.

أتخذ مارتن بعد ذلك من كلمة O.K شعاراً له في الحزب الديمقراطي Democratic اثناء الإنتخابات الأمريكية عام 1840، وكان مؤيديه يهتفون ( OK .. OK ) و التي امتزجت مع مشاعر الرضى لهذا المنتخب، حتى اختلطت المعاني و اصبحت OK رمزاً للرضاء و القبول.

يقال ان مؤيدي مارتن شكلوا ” نادي OK ” او ” OK club “.

نظرية All correct : يتبين لنا عند نطق ” All correct ” أن أول حرف من كلمة all يلفظ و كأنه “ o “ ، و أول حرف من كلمة correct يلفظ و كأنه “ k “ ، فمن هنا جاء معنى كلمة OK ك اختصار.

تأتي كلمة All corect بمعنى قريب من “ كل شيءٍ على ما يرام ” أو ” حسناً ” .

مع ملاحظة ان هذا الرأي يؤيدة Englize.com لوضوحة، وهو ما نراه الأقرب للحقيقة.

نظرية orl korrekt : في أثناء عام 1830، كانت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية تعاني من الأخطاء الإملائية بشكل هجائي مضحك للغاية، فكانوا يستخدمون orl korrekt للموافقة ، فجاءت ok أختصاراً لها، وهذه النظرية مشابهة لما قبلها و لاقت تأييداً كبيراً من قبل علماء امريكيين و قواميس اكسفورد oxford.

نظرية Obediah Kelly : يُقال أنه رجلاً يعمل كوكيل شحن في سكة حديد ، وكان هو من يكتب ويوقع على وثائق الشحن التي تم اختيارها وقبولها. فأصبحت ok اختصاراً لأسمة و اصبحت تدل على الموافقة و القبول.

نظرية الإشتقاق من اللغات الأخرى : و هنا البعض يوضح ان ok مشتقة من عدة لغات، و يوضح البعض أن ok اشتقت من الإسكتلنديين الذين يستخدمون تعبير ” och aye ” و الفرنسيين ” aux Cayes ” و الكثير مما ذكر في oxford.

نظرية 0killed, 1killed, 2killed : انها غريبة بعض الشيء، أليس كذلك؟ فهناك من تعمق أكثر وقال : في احدى الحروب كانت بريطانيا ترسل تقارير يومية عن عدد القتلى في صفوفها للجهات المعنية، مثلاً :

sunday - 9k ، أي في يوم الأحد قتل 9 جنود

monday - 2k ، الأثنين قتل جنديان

0k - و يأتي التقرير أحياناً بهذا الشكل، أي عدد القتلى 0

فكانت هذه النتيجة ” 0k ” تبعث روح السعادة و الفرح و الرضى للضباط و المسؤولين اتجاه جيشهم، فأصبحت بمعنى ok !

أخيراً هناك من يقول انه ok هي ليست اختصاراً إلا لكلمة okay و التي تعني أوكي !

HAMMER= A tool used by carpenters to hit nails.
SAW= A tool used by carpenters to cut wood.
The pun of this joke is the word SAW, it is a tool and it is also the past tense of the verb “to see”, so we can read the sentence with two different meanings.

DEAF= A deaf person is someone who can’t hear.
SHEPHERD= A person who takes care of sheep and walks them around in the country.
GATHER= Bring together.
FLOCK= A group of sheep.
HEARD= This is the pun of the joke, because HEARD is the past tense of the verb “to hear”, but it sounds the same as HERD, which is a group of animals of the same kind that go together (in this case, a flock of sheep), so again, you can listen to the joke and give two different meanings to the last sentence.

I SCREAM means “I shout”. People scream when they are in terror (very afraid), so if you see a ghost (the spirit of a dead person) you scream. But the pronunciation of I SCREAM is the same as ICE-CREAM.

THE PAST TENSE of the verb “to be” is “I was, you were, etc”. The sentence “I am beautiful” is present tense, but in this joke the teacher must be very ugly, so if she says “I am beautiful” it has to be a “past tense” (she was beautiful), because that sentence would be wrong in the present.

TO CALL A TAXI means to make a motion for a taxi to stop, or to phone a taxi. But the verb TO CALL also means to say something to someone, so “he called me stupid” means “he said: you are stupid”.

HE’S ALL RIGHT means “he’s ok”, but if we think of its literal meaning, “he’s all right” means “all of his body is right, because the left part of his body was destroyed in the accident”.

A DAM is a big concrete wall, an artificial barrier built to stop a river and make an artificial lake (a reservoir). If a fish in a river hits a concrete wall, it probably is a dam, so the fish identification is correct.

But the word DAM sounds the same as the exclamation DAMN! which is a curse word (a bad word children shouldn’t say) that people say when something goes wrong and they don’t like it, used to express anger, irritation, contempt, or disappointment. So when the fish hit the wall and hurt itself, it exclaimed “damn!”

ON ITS OWN means “alone” or “without help”. The pun here is the phrase “TWO TIRED”. If a person is TOO TIRED they can’t stand, they have to sit down. A bicycle doesn’t get tired, but it can’t stand alone because it has only two wheels (a car has 4 wheels and it can stand). The wheels of a bicycle have a metallic ring and a rubber thing around it filled with air. That rubber part is called a TYRE, so a bicycle has TWO TYRES, that is, two wheels. And we can build an adjective using this construction:
NUMBER + NOUN + -ED
So we can say:
- a one-eyed man (a man with just one eye).
- a three-legged dog (a dog with only three legs).
- a six-headed monster (a monster with three heads).
And, of course, a bicycle is A TWO-TYRED BICYCLE because it has two tyres.

TO WONDER= To be curious about something. You don’t know it but you want to know and think about it.
BASEBALL= The game is “baseball”, but the ball we use in that game is also called a “baseball”. We can also talk about a football (the ball we use to play football), etc.
HIT= past participle of the verb “to hit” (hit-hit-hit), to impact, to strike.
If someone hits a baseball and the ball comes right to you, you see it getting bigger, because as it is nearer you see it bigger. So this ball was going to hit the man (or woman) and he didn’t know what was happening (he was wondering). Then, the ball finally hit him.
The pun here is the expression IT HIT ME, which means “after thinking about something I couldn’t understand, I finally found the explanation and could understand him”. So here we’ve got both meanings at the same time: when the ball hit him he could understand why the ball was getting bigger.

A house can't jump!
1- In maths at school, a typical problem would be: "if you have 10 apples in a basket and you take away 3, how many apples have you got?", and the answer would be "7" (10-3=7). But this joke is using pure logic to defy the conventional answer. If a basket holds 12 apples and you take 3 apples from the basket, you have 3 apples! (besides, nobody said the basket is yours).
2- The key word here is HARES. A hare is a wild animal similar to a rabbit, but they are thinner and run faster. The word HARE is pronounced the same as HAIR (they both rhyme with CHAIR). A BALD man is a man with no hair on his head.
3- I suppose you have no problems to understand this joke, but I'll explain it anyway. The opposite of "John kills Pete" is "Pete kills John" (excuse the example); but the opposite of "man exploits man" is "man exploits man", so this joke means that many people are exploited no matter what economical system they live in, it's all the same. To exploit a person means to take advantage of a person or situation for one's own ends (poor people work a lot and rich people get the benefits).
4- CATTLE is cows, bulls and oxen (a bull is a male cow and an oxen is a castrated bull). A HERD of sheep is a group of sheep that live together (a shepherd takes care of them). A herd of cattle is a group of cattle that live together (a cowboy takes care of them). A COWCULATOR is not a real word, but it obviously means "a calculator to count cows".
5- Cows that are often in the fields have a bell hanging from their necks so that you can hear them in the distance when they move. A cow has two HORNS on their head (they are hard and pointed, similar to bones). In the old times, people used animal horns to make something like a trumpet, if you blow it, it makes a loud sound. That is why today we use the word "horn" for the device in a car that makes a loud warning sound. For example, if you are driving down the street and another car gets on your way, you sound the horn to avoid crashing. So, if you sound the horn and no sound comes out, the horn is not working.
6- a CRAB is a crustacean that lives by the coast, has a hard shell and people say they walk backwards (in fact they walk sideways). These animals have six legs and two big pinches to defend themselves. TO PINCH is to squeeze between your thumb and finger, but for crabs, it is to squeeze using their pinches. In slang, to pinch is to steal, so if you pinch, you go to prison.
7- a CYCLOPS (plural: cyclopes) is a mythical god from Greece who is a giant and has only one eye (the most famous cyclops is Polyphemus, who was blinded by Ulysses). The little black circle in the middle of the eye is called PUPIL, so if a cyclops has only one eye, he only has one pupil, but a pupil is also a formal word that means "a student".
8- A CHIP PAN is a deep-sided cooking pan used for deep-frying (you fill it with oil and then put things inside to fry them). Chip pans are named for their traditional use in frying chips. A "frying object" is an object that is frying, but we automatically think of "an Unidentified Flying Object", that is, a UFO (usually thought to be an alien spaceship).
9- A BEE is the insect that makes honey and wax for candles (they can hurt you if they sting you). The buzzing sound they make when they fly is "to hum", but "to hum" is also to produce a tune (a song) without opening the lips or forming words. So if you want to sing a song but you don't know the words, you hum.

ويليام شكسبير وليام، وليم (بالإنكليزية: William Shakespeare) مسرحي وشاعر وممثل إنكليزي ولد في ابريل 1564 وتوفي في 23 أبريل 1616.
يعتبر شكسبير واحداً من أهم كتاب المسرح في العالم، وأهم كاتبٍ باللغة الإنكليزية.
يوصف بشاعر إنكلترا الوطني، وبأنه شاعر أفون، أو ببساطة الشاعر The Bard. تحتوي أعماله الناجية على ثمانية وثلاثين مسرحية، مائة وأربعة وخمسين سوناتا، وقصيدتين روائيتين طويلتين.
تُرجمت مسرحياته إلى كافة اللغات الحية الرئيسية في العالم، ومُثلت أكثر مما مثلت مسرحيات أي مسرحي آخر.
سيرته:
نشأ شكسبير في ستراتفورد في أفون مسقط رأسه، ودرس في مدارسها مبادئ اللغات اللاتينية واليونانية والفرنسية، ومكنته دراسته هذه من التعمق في التاريخ والأدب الكلاسيكي، ولم يتمكن شكسبير من إكمال دراسته بسبب الأحوال المادية السيئة لوالده، حيث أضطر للعمل. تزوج وهو في الثامنة عشرة من العمر من آن هاثاوي وخلف منها ثلاثة أبناء الأولى ابنته سوزانا وتبعها التوأمين ابتنه هامنت وابنته جوديث. بين عامي 1585 و1592 بدأ مسيرة مهنية ناجحة في لندن نشر أول أعماله الشعرية "فينوس وأدونيس" وعمل كممثل وكاتب وشريك في مِلْكية فرقة مسرحية كانت تدعى رجال لورد تشامبرلين والتي عرفت فيما بعد بإسم رجال الملك. ويبدو أنه عاد إلى ستراتفورد عام 1613 ليتقاعد، توفي هناك بعد ذلك بثلاثة اعوام.

عدم معرفة الكثير من سيرته الخاصة ترك المجال لكثير من التقولاات والتحليلات حول شخصيته ومعتقداته ومدى أصالة كتاباته. على ما يبدوا أن وليم شكسبير تأثر في كتاباته عن عصر الملوك والأساطير وفى موضوعاته عن الخيانة والقتل والضمائر القاسية بما كتبه المؤرخ القديم بلوتارخ.. يعتبر شكسبير من أعظم أدباء عصره ومن أهم المسرحيين في العالم حتى الآن.

عندما يأتى الفقر من الباب يهرب الحب من الشباك

اذا غاب القط يلعب الفأر

When you are in Rome do as the romans do
عندما تكون فى روما فافعل مثلما يفعل أهلها

Where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise
عندما يكون الجهل نعمه فمن الحمق أن تكون حكيما

Without hope the heart would break
بدون حب ينكسر القلب

ونكمل المشي مع مستر حليم بس اوعو تتعبوا

عصفور في اليد ولا عشرة على الشجرة

على قدر بساطك مد رجليك

عَملَ من الحبّة قبّة

في التأنّي السلامة وفي العجلة الندامة
In caution there is safety; in haste repentance


قيمة كلّ امرئ ما يحسنه
The worth of a man lies in what he does well


كثير الكارات قليل البارات
A rolling stone gathers no moss


كُلْ قليلا تَعش طويلا
Eat little, live long


لكلّ جديد لذّة
Novelty gives pleasure


لكلّ جواد كبوة، ولكلّ عالم هفوة
Any horse may stumble, any sage may err


للضرورة أحكام
Necessity knows no law


ما كلّ سوداء فحمة وما كل حمراء لحمة
All that glitters is not gold


ما كلّ ما يتمنّى المرء يدركه تجري الرياح بما لا تشتهي السفن
Man does not attain all his heart's desires for the winds do not blow as the vessels wish


كلّ إناء بما فيه ينضح
A vessel filters what it contains


لا تؤجّل عمل اليوم إلى الغد
Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do to-day


لا تبع فروة الدبّ قبل صيده
Don't count your chickens before they are hatched


لا تعاند من إذا قال فعل
Don't fight the man who does what he says


لا دخان بلا نار
No smoke without fire


لا يفلّ الحديد إلاّ الحديد
Diamond cut diamond





ما كلّ مرّة تسلم الجرّة
The pitcher goes to the well once too often


مصائب قوم عند قوم فوائد
The misfortunes of some people are advantages to others


مفتاح الشرّ كلمة
The key to evil is one word


من أراد إغراق كلبه اتّهمه بالجرب
Give a dog a bad name and hang him


من حسنت سياسته دامت رياسته
He who governs well may govern long


من زرع الريح حصد العاصفة
He that sows the wind shall reap the whirlwind

من طلب العلى سهر الليالي
He who desires the top must sit up many nights


من طلب الكثير أضاع القليل
Grasp all, lose all


من كثر ضحكه قلّت هيبته
As laughter increases respect decreases


نحن في التفكير والله في التدبير
Man proposes and God disposes


يحصد المرء ما زرع
As you sow, so you shall reap





الملدوغ يخاف من جرّة الحبل
A brunt child dreads the fire


النظافة من الإيمان
Cleanliness is next to godliness


الوحدة خير من قرين السوء
Better be alone than in bad company


تريدين إدراك المعالي رخيصة ولا بدّ دون الشهد من إبر النحل
You wish to reach the heights with little effort, yet he who gathers honey must suffer the stings of the bees






The absent party is not faulty>>>>الغايب عذره معه

Actions speak louder than words>>>>العبرة بالأعمال وليست بالأقوال

Add fuel to the fire>>>>يزيد الطين بلة

Address people in the language they can understand>>>>خاطب الناس على قدر عقولهم

Advice is ever in want>>>>لا خاب من استشار

After black clouds, clear weather>>>>كل شدة وتهون،الصبر مفتاح الفرج



الابن سرّ أبيه

اتّق شرّ من أحسنت إليه
Beware the man who has received charity from you


استجار من الرمضاء بالنار
To jump out of the frying pan into the fire


الأعمال خير من الأقوال
Acts speak louder than words


الأمور بخواتمها
All is well that ends well


الإيمان يزحزح الجبل
Faith may move mountains

Cut your coat according to your cloth>>>> على قدر لحافك مد رجليك، رحم الله إمرءاً عرف قدر نفسه

Conciliation is the matter of the law>>>>الصلح سيد الأحكام

A creaking gate hangs long>>>>الباب ذو الصرير يعيش طويلاً

Do good and cast it into the sea>>>>اعمل خير والقه في البحر

Easy come, easy go>>>>ما يأتي بسهولة يذهب بسهولة،ما لا تجلبه الرياح تأخذه الزوابع





الحماس بلا معرفة نور بلا ضياء
Zeal without knowledge is fire without light


الخبز القفار خير من لا شيء
Half a loaf is better than no bread


الشراء خير من الاقتراض
Better buy than borrow


الصبر مفتاح الفرج
Patience is the key to relief


الصديق عند الضيق
A friend in need is a friend indeed


الصيت الحسن خير من المال المجموع
A good name is better than riches

The end justifies the means>>>>الغاية تبرر الوسيلة

Every tide has its ebb>>>>لكل جواد كبوة

It is the end that counts>>>>إنما العبرة بالنهاية

الطبع يغلب التطبّع
What is bred in the bone cannot come out of the flesh


العادة طبيعة ثانية
Custom is a second nature


العاقل من اتّعظ بغيره
He is a happy man who is warned by another man's deeds


العقل السليم في الجسم السليم
A sound mind in a sound body


القناعة كنز لا يفنى
Contentment is an inexhaustible treasure

خير الأمور الوسط

دِرهم وقاية خير من قنطار علاج

رأس الحكمة مخافة الله
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom


ربّ صدفة خير من ميعاد
An accidental meeting may be better than a date


ربّ كلمة جلبت نقمة، وربّ كلمة جلبت نعمة
A word uttered may bring wealth as well as ruin


صنعة في اليد أمان من الفقر
A trade in hand insures against poverty


عدوّ عاقل خير من صديق جاهل
Better have a wise enemy than a foolish friend





اطلبوا العلم من المهد إلى اللحد
Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave


إذا هبّت رياحك فاغتنمها
Make hay while the sun shines


إضرب حديدا حاميا لانفع منه أن يبرد
Strike while the iron is hot


إن أردت أن تطاع فسل ما يستطاع
If you wish to be obeyed don't ask the impossible


إنّ الطيور على أشكالها تقع
Birds of a feather flock together


إنّ بَعد العسر يسرا
After the storm comes sunshine



القناعة تقيم في الأكواخ اكثر من القصور
Content lodges oftener in cottages than palaces


النوم باكراّ والنهوض باكراّ يكسبان المرء صحة وثراء وحكمة
Early to bed and early to rise makes a man
healthy, wealthy, and wise


يموت الجبناء عدة مرات قبل موتهم
Cowards die many times before their death



الإحسان يبدأ بالأهل
Charity begins at home
