ازي حضرتك أستاذ محسن.
هوا مينفعش كمعني غير none of They are all at work |
آسف أقصد Neither of
|
اعتقد انها ستكون neither ولكنare مفروض تبقي is ،،،،،،الجمله دى غريبه ،،منور الدنيا يا استانا
|
|
.In an informal style, a plural verb is possible .Example .Neither of my sisters are married (Practical English Usage) |
Thanks a lot for being interested in my question. But a question is still there: Do we teach the standard language or the slang (colloquial) one? We should stick to the books language, not to the street one? Am I right or not |
I see that the sentence should be rewritten correctly as the use of the plural verb is not correct at all
The sentence should be Neither of my parents is at home...... |
you know this is the first edition
i think they will correct it later |
the sentence should be (is) not (are ) at all as we deal with standard Britsh English
|
neither of them is/are sick
this structure is in common use it's not a wrong one |
(the sentence should be written correctly ( Neither of my parents is at home
|
Neither of my parents are at home
Neither of my parents is at home both are right تنفع بعد (neither of ) الفعل ييجي مفرد او جمع الاثنين صح .... بس الاكثر انتشارا .. انه بيكون مفرد .......بس الاثنين صح |
........It's clear : Neither of my parents are at
|
Neither
وليس هناك مشكلة لغوية في are لانها مستخدمة لغويا ولكن غير رسمية قليلا وشائعة في American English |
You have to look at the book first then you can write the question correctly as it is found in the workbook p 58 number 30
|
both of my parents are at home today. it's a holiday
workbook page 58 |
Neither of my parents is / are at home .........
|
اجابتك صح يجوز ان يكون الفعل جمع عادى فالاجابة nither
|
No doubt it's a correct one - neither of is followed by a singular or a plural verb so nothing is wrong
|
Hi,everybody
:I'd like to contribute to the discussionthe informal language is a level of English that is acceptable in written and spoken language. It is not colloquial or slang and if you remember, we teach students how to change emails into informal style So standard language is used in special areas like speechesor news Thanks |

You are completely right, sir.
We do teach formal British English. Yet, it is now common knowledge that curriculum specialists are between US and Cairo all year long, so they have an undisputed inclination to use American English. Personally, I stick to the origin and claim it is a mistake in the course book no matter what students may say in the future when other teachers say it is true on the american way. |
