Preferences (to Mr.Mazen + Mr. Abou Beshou)
To Mr. Mazen Gamal:
I`m sorry I made a mistake in the last post and the correction is: prefer to do = prefer doing : without any difference in meaning & both for general preferences. To Mr. Abou Beshou (I hope I`ve spelt the name correctly.) It`s OK to correct my mistake in Mr. Mazen`s post, but not in a different post. No one will get it unless it concerns him. Any way, thanks for waking me up. I double-checked and found you are right. I tried to upload some more info., but all my files are Word 2007. Best regards! |

mr essam thanks alot
But I think a lot about the difference between them let's think I prefer listening to music to watching Tv (this is generally what I like ) but now or today I prefer to watch tv means it isn't my habit what do you think of this? |
Both are correct, with no difference in meaning. But there is a difference in the structure:
I prefer something to something else. I prefer apples to oranges. I prefer doing something to doing something else. I prefer eating apples to eating oranges. I prefer to do something rather than (do) something else. I prefer to eat apples rather than (eat) oranges. |
thank you for this explanation
