هذا السؤال في كتاب bit by bit

I'd rather he was early now.
Because if the subject after _ 'd rather - is different from the one before it ,the verb should be Past simple to express present action

لأن didn't تستخدم لنفى فعل يقع بعدها فى صيغة النفى وبما أنه لا يوجد فعل هنا فلا نستخدم didn't

لأن الفاعل قبلها يختلف عن افاعل بعدها وبالتالي يوضع الفعل في الماضي والماضي هو was
