National unity & citizenship in Egypt
National unity and good relations between Muslims and Christians is not a slogan but rather a tangible reality reflected in the unique experience of the people. In all wars and revolutions, we saw Christians and Muslims fighting their enemies in defense of our dear country. Muslims and Christians in Egypt are always partners in joy and annoy. When a Christian gets married, his Muslim friends and neighbours go to the church to attend his wedding party and vice versa. Whenever a Muslim dies, Christians condole his family and vice versa. On feasts, both Muslims and Christians exchange gifts and good wishes. It is not an exaggeration to say that citizenship is one of the most important characteristics of the Egyptian society. All Egyptians are equal. There is no difference between Muslims and Christians. They have the same rights and do the same duties. They are the two elements of the nation. This means that there is no distinction between the sons of Egypt due to religion. Although Christians in Egypt are a minority, they are given all rights and privileges that are given to Muslims who constitute 94% of the population of Egypt.
الوحدة الوطنية والعلاقات الطيبة بين المسلمين والمسيحيين ليست شعارا بل واقعا ملموسا ينعكس في تجربة فريدة من نوعها للشعب. في كل الحروب والثورات، رأينا المسيحيين والمسلمين يحاربون أعدائهم دفاعا عن بلدنا العزيز. المسلمين والمسيحيين في مصر هي دائما شركاء في الفرح والحزن. عندما يتزوج مسيحيا، أصدقائه وجيرانه المسلمين يذهبوا إلى الكنيسة لحضور حفل زفافه وبالمثل . عندما مسلم يموت ، المسيحيين يعزون عائلته والعكس بالعكس. في الأعياد، كل من المسلمين والمسيحيين يتبادلوا الهدايا والتمنيات الطيبة. وليس من قبيل المبالغة القول بأن المواطنة هي واحدة من أهم خصائص المجتمع المصري. كل المصريين متساوون. ليس هناك فرق بين المسلمين والمسيحيين. فهم لديهم نفس الحقوق وعليهم القيام بنفس الواجبات . المسلمون و المسيحيون هم عنصري الأمة. وهذا يعني أنه ليس هناك أي تمييز بين أبناء مصر بسبب الدين. على الرغم من أن المسيحيين في مصر هم أقلية، تقدم لهم جميع الحقوق والامتيازات التي تعطى للمسلمين الذين يشكلون 94 ٪ من سكان مصر.
