Would you agree with me if I said that the following sentence has something wrong

Here is the sentence
It seems that a king's life is quite hard, but a pretend king's life is even harder

I think "pretend" can't be used as a noun, can it? - And it isn't even followed by of, for example

Can "pretend" be used as an adjective? - I looked up many sources and all I got was that it is only a verb

This sentence is on page 35, Chapter 4 in the last paragraph

There is another sentence on page 41 with the same word. This means that it is NOT wrong . And if it isn't wrong, then what's the explanation
Here is the second sentence
I spoke to him in English with a pretend foreign accent

a pretend king" :The noun here is a king but pretend is an adjective and it is the same as pretended "

the sentence is correct .the word "pretend " can be used as an adjective

I looked it up in Merriam Webster and I found that it can be an adj that means (not genuine or imaginary)

Mr Mohsen, have you checked Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary?, It says, one can use pretend as an adjective in informal speech to mean imaginary, but it must be used before a noun. للاسف انا عندي لونجمان (الإصدار الثالث) وليس به هذه المعلومة (أن pretend صفة)
وعندي المورد الكبير وليس به هذه المعلومة
وفتحت النت على ترجمة جوجل ولم توجد به هذه المعلومة
وعلشان كدة أنا هذه الأيام أقوم بتحميل لونجمان الإصدار الخامس كما أشار إليه H0riz0n
أقول هذه الأيام لأن حجم القاموس كبير جداُ
