Agree or Disagree?
In our mid-term exam January 2016, the examiner copied these two following sentences from an outside cook book. She \ He asked the students to choice the correct answer: 1) I ..........to a party tomorrow, would you like to come? a) am going b)will go c) goes d) will have gone the examiner's answer was 'am going' I politely objected and debated that the answer should be "will go" as the sentence here doesn't have a plan or an intention or even arrangement as the speaker says,"....a party......" not ".........the party ........" What's your opinions my dear colleagues? |

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم am going is the right answer merely because it's a decision taken before As for a party / the party a noun is definite when it's known to both the listener and the speaker Ex : I bought a car / the car yesterday Here : I know exactly which car I'm talking about but the noun is still indefinite ملحوظة : بدلا من التفاصيل الكثيرة لاظهار الفارق بين will / going to جرب الاتي We use " will " for decisions taken now Ali : My friend Adel is in hospital Sami : I know , I'm going to visit him today We use " going to" for decisions taken before Ali : My friend Adel is in hospital Sami : Oh! really , I'll visit him today تحياتـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــي |
