Language notes
1- educate / learn:
educate: to teach someone, especially in a school or college. يعلم
ex: the country should spend more money on educating our children.
Learn: to get knowledge of a subject or skill by studying or doing it:
Ex: Leila is learning Spanish.
2- bring up / teach:
bring up: to look after children until they are adults. يربى
ex: islam was brought up by his uncle after the death of his parents.
Teach: cause somebody to know or be able to do something: يعلم
Ex: she teaches well.
3- climate / weather:
climate: a regular pattern weather conditions of a particular region. مناخ
ex: Britain has a temperate climate.
Climatic (adj): adjective of climate: مناخي
Ex: some villages and twos disappeared because of climatic condition.
Weather: condition of the atmosphere at a certain place and time, with reference to temperature and the presence of rain, sunshine, wind, etc.: الطقس
Ex: the game was cancelled due to bad weather.
4- provide / provide with / provide for:
provide: make something available: يوفر
ex: the management will provide food and drink.
Provide ……. With: to give or supply something to someone. يزود / يمد
Ex: Dr El-Baz provided the government with information on underground water supplies in the toshka valley.
Provide for: to give someone the things that they need, such as money, food, or clothing: يعيل
Ex: I have to provide for a family of six.
5- work on / work for / work with:
work on (something): يحسن / يصلح
ex: you need to work on your pronunciation.
Work for: يعمل لحساب / عند
Ex: he works for an oil company in saudi Arabia.
6- advise / recommend:
advise (v): to tell someone what they think they should do: ينصح
ex: the doctor advised me to stay in bed.
Advise (n): نصيحة
Ex: left me give you some advise. Don't write so fast.
Recommend (v): to tell someone that something is good, useful and enjoyable, ect: يوصى
Ex: can you recommend a local restaurant?
7- able to + inf: قادر على
ex: he is able to solve the problem.
Capable of + v + ing: قادر على
Ex: he is capable of crossing the river.
Enable + object + to + inf: يمكن
Ex: the money from her aunt enabled Noura to buy the house.
