مصيبة كبيرة فى كتاب teacher`s guide تانية ثانوى الامتحان الثان للتيرم الاول الاختيارى الرابعSquash is a team sport عليه العوض ومنه العوض ياريت حد يتاكد يمكن اكون انا غلطان او النسخة اللى معايا اى كلاموفية فى اولى ثانوى كمان بس مش مشكلة اولى المصيبة تانية

Is squash a team or individual sport? You used it both ways. In Sec 2 listening text of unit 4, is this sentence correct? "Sports like squash are individual sports -- you have to beat the person you are playing alone." What if we said "playing against" instead of "alone"? But in practice test 2 in the WB, you have "team sport" as the answer.

As for the listening text, the adverb alone modifies the verb beat. You have to beat the person alone, not with the help of team mates. In any sport you have to beat the person or team you're playing against. so it wouldn't make much sense for the person to be saying that. It's a given in sport. The sentence in the listening text is correct.

Examples of individual sports include:

Team sport includes any sport which involves people working together towards a shared objective. Some team sports are practiced between opposing teams, where the players interact directly and simultaneously between them to achieve an objective. The objective generally involves teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar item in accordance with a set of rules, in order to score points.
However, other types of team sports do not involve teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar item in accordance with a set of rules, in order to score points. For example, Swimming, Rowing, Sailing, and Dragon Boat Racing among others are also team sports. In other types of team sports there may not be an opposing team or point scoring, for example, mountaineering. Instead of points scored against an opposing team, the relative difficulty of the climb or walk is the measure of the achievement.
