Dr Martin Luther King, Jr (1929-1968) was a leader of the Civil Rights movement in the United States in 1950s and 1960s. He led boycotts, marches, and demonstrations for the right to vote, desegregation, labor rights, and other basic civil rights that were often denied blacks at that time. King is noted for leading non-violent protests, which won media attention and public sympathy.
