The South African government said reports that the 95-year-old had been discharged were "incorrect". "Madiba is still in hospital in Pretoria, and remains in a critical but stable condition," the presidency said in a statement, using Mandela’s clan name. The anti-apartheid hero was admitted to the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria on June 8 with a serious lung condition. Mandela spent 27 years in prison under white minority rule, including 18 years at the notorious Robben Island penal colony. His lung infection dates back to his time on the windswept island, where he and other prisoners were forced to work in a limestone quarry at in Pretoria. Mr Mandela stepped down as president in 1999 and his last major public appearance was in July 2010, at the final of the Fifa World Cup at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...espite-2240232
