February 15, 2012 @ 11:15 am It’s been only a few days since the passing of , and pop culture staples are finding interesting ways to honor the legendary singer. aired its tribute during its special last night, with singing Houston’s classic, “I Will Always Love You.” The song had been in the show’s lineup for a while—Riley’s character Mercedes Jones sang it to her summer love, Sam (Chord Overstreet)—so it’s just happenstance the episode aired after Houston’s tragic death. “We were celebrating her in life when we recorded it, and now that she has died, we’re celebrating her passing and her legacy,” Riley, who had just met Houston days before, of singing the tune.
