First Salafi to run for President




CAIRO: Cassation Judge and International arbitrator Zein al-Abedeen Abdel Aziz is the first Salafi to announce his nomination for the upcoming presidential election.

He said the next president will depend on media portrayal to mirror his credibility to Egyptians.

He said honest policy is necessary and forging votes is unacceptable, as was practiced in former parliamentary elections, in a press conference, in Syndicate of Journalists.

Commenting on his slogan ‘Islam is good and safe,’ Abdel Aziz said the aim is to support Islamic Law. He refused the Muslim Brotherhood (M phobia in the circumstance that they govern Egypt.

As for his campaign, Abdel Aziz said it will focus on issues regarding education, judiciary rule, police, foreign affairs, and will push for Islamic call (Daawa).

Abdel-Aziz was a Muslim Brotherhood member for 10 years and then became a Salafi.

Every Egyptian has the right to run for the presidential elections in November. However, we don't vote for a candidate just because he is Salafi . We have to know his reform programme and his vision of change before casting our ballot.

i think that no one will vote to salafi or brother hood but in all cases we will choose the nominee who has the best electoral program.

i don't agree with you as most of the Egyptian people love and support the Islamists ( salafi or brotherhood), however i hope that all islamist candidates agree to choose just one so that we can vote for him and accordingly he will get the most votes , God willing
