Adjectives ending with (ed) is used to describe the objective wheither it is a human being or a thing and adjectives ending with ing is used to describe the doer
I can simply say: Amr is frightening and Amr is frightened the difference is that Amr in the first sentence is the one who causes fear. while in the second sentence Amr doesnot cause fear instead he feels it as something else causes it. I can also say: The cat is frightening and the rat is frightened. ( notice they are both animals) It is really misleading to say that adjectives ending with ed are for humans and those ending with ing are for things or animals. I hope my answer is helpful |
