Dear colleagues:
Here's my opinion about the previous sentences (what hasn't been decided on yet): Since I started the job two years ago, I've met important people from all over the world. We can say: from around the world, though from all over the world seems also correct I arrived (at / in) school late We usually say at school but I think both are correct He says that he had dreamed of climbing the mountain since he was a toddler Grammatically speaking, there must be something wrong with the sentence for the following reasons: Firstly, as a rule, says is not followed by Past Tenses Secondly, since cannot be preceded by Past Tenses and cannot link two past actions, we can generally use when / after / before / as soon as / etc. instead; My only solution is: He says (now) that he has dreamed of climbing the mountain since he was a toddler. According to Longman English Grammar by L. G. Alexander,
"Adverbs often associated with the Present Perfect: already, ever, for (+period of time), just, never, never...before, since (+point of time) are often used with the Past Perfect to emphasize the sequence of events: When I rang, Jim had already left. The boys loved the zoo. They had never seen wild animals before." Unfortunately, the author didn`t provide an example for since. |

ارجو من الزملاء النظر الى امتحان المستوى الرفيع 2009 ونموذج الاجابه الخاص به الذى رفعه مستر عبد الهادى لمنتدانا وليدور النقاش حول قطعه الفهم (الاختيارى) لان هناك اجابات اختلف الكثير على صحتها ومنهم انا وهذه هى الملفات التى رفعها الينا اخانا الفاضل مستر عبد الهادى

طبعا أنا مبسوط جداجدا من هذا النقاش الجميل بين أساتذة أفاضل لنتعلم منهم ولكن لى استفسار بسيط يامستر عصام الجاويش هل الأستاذة / أمل رواش هى التى كانت زميلتى أنا ومحمد رشاد والمجموعة أم واحدة أخرى ؟ وماسبب ذكرها هنا ؟ أرجو إن كانت هى أن تبلغها سلامى فهى كانت نعم الأخت والزميلة الاسماعيلاوية ياعم عصام

The answers are correct If we forget about real life and what naturally happens, and if we just concentrate on the information in the passage (though some information do not seem to be the exact answers - like the duration of living in Tanta)
