Tag Questions

You speak English, don't you?
A tag question is a special construction in English. It is a statement followed by a mini-question. The whole sentence is a "tag question", and the mini-question at the end is called a "question tag".
A "tag" is something small that we add to something larger. For example, the little piece of cloth added to a shirt showing size or washing instructions is a tag.
We use tag questions at the end of statements to ask for confirmation. They mean something like: "Am I right?" or "Do you agree?" They are very common in English.
The basic structure is:
statementquestion tag+
Positive statement,-
negative tag?Snow is white,isn't it?-
Negative statement,+
positive tag?You don't like me,do you?
Notice that the question tag repeats the auxiliary verb (or main verb when be) from the statement and changes it to negative or positive.
A question tag is the "mini-question" at the end. A tag question is the whole sentence.
We will now look at positive statement tag questions.

تستخدم never فى النفى و ever فى السؤال

he has never seen a lion / have you ever been to Egypt
he has never seen a lion before ( ever )
it’s the first time he has ever seen a lion

تستخدم yet اخر الجمله المنفيه فى المضارع التام

he hasn’t written a letter yet ( pasive)
a letter hasn’t yet been written.

He has just/ already seen the film ( ago )

He saw the film a moment ago

Since he was a child
Since 5 O’clock
Since Monday / Friday/ April / June
Since yesterday / last week / last year ( لاحظ for the last two weeks )

يتكون من have / has+been + v+ing

كلماته: for ( two hours ) now , the whole day. All morning
نستخدمه مع الجمل التى بها still , now

He srarted playing football at 6 .now it is 7, he is still playing (has )
He has been playing football for an hour

او التى يدل المعنى ان الحدث لا زال مستمرا

We are working on the bridge , we will finish next year
We haven’t finished yet
We have been working on the bridge

He entered the mosque at 5 , now it’s 7 he is still there ( been )

تذكر هنا عند اجابه هذا المثال ان المضالرع التلم المستمر لا ياتى مع الافعال القصيره مثل enter / start / begin / shut / close / open
اذن لا يمكن فى هذا المثال ان نستخدم الفعل enter فى زمن المضارع التام بل ناتى بفعل اخر وهوpray

He has been praying in the mosque for two hours

he has been playing the match since 7 O’clock

لا يستخدم المضارع التام المستمر مع
1- how many / how much بل فى وجود how long

how many books ( have you read- have you been reading )?

2-العدد I( have read – have been reading ) 5 books

when did he begine singing?( how long)
how long ago did he begine singing?
