وليدور النقاش حول قطعه الفهم (الاختيارى) لان هناك اجابات اختلف الكثير على صحتها ومنهم انا

وهذه هى الملفات التى رفعها الينا اخانا الفاضل مستر عبد الهادى

لقد قرأتها يا مستر عصام الأن (لم أكن قد رأيت الإمتحان من قبل)
أعتقد ان الإجابات صحيحة. فقط أنا توقت عند السؤال الثانى على القطعة. ويبدوا أنه توجد مشكلة بشأنه
2. People in Cairo ……………..
a) don't care about emergencies. c) are attracted by the sounds
b) are used to sirens. d) don't hear loud noises
واحترت قليلا بين

a) don't care about emergencies b) are used to sirens
فلو اخترت a فهذا اتهام للقاهريين بإنهم جامدى المشاعر وعديمى الإحساس
وإذا اخترب b فالقطعة قالت أنه نادرا ما يسمح سرينة عربة البوليس

I hardly hear a siren there
تلك هى المشكلة على ما أعتقد
وهذا يعد خطأ من واضع الإمتحان
فلا القطعة قالت أن القاهريين thoughless كما لم تقل أنهم معتادى على سماع أصوات عربات البوليس أو الإسعاف

ربما عدم سماع الكاتب لهذه الأصوات لا ينفى اعتياد الآخرين فى القاهرة علىها كأن يسكن فى حى راق فى القاهرة

The answers are correct If we forget about real life and what naturally happens, and if we just concentrate on the information in the passage (though some information do not seem to be the exact answers - like the duration of living in Tanta)

Hey, Mr Essam. You are now casting doubt on the same sentence I thought of before. That guy mentioned in the text lives in Tanta, but he sometimes visits Cairo where he hardly hears sirens. This means he hears sirens in Cairo,and this is the correct answer .

In passages like these, we follow George Kardahy`s way

Omit two answers then ask help from the audience, they give more than 70% correct answers

This is the problem

The sentence: "I hardly hear a siren there" make choice D not acceptable.

فعلا الجملة منطقية إذا كان يعيش فى القاهرة. و هذا يزيد الطين بللا. إذا كنا نحن نفهم القطعة بطرق مختلفة فما بال تلاميذنا. مشكلة اسئلة قطعة الفهم تكاد تكون ثابتة من واضعى الإمتحان كل عام

بعد القراءة الثانية فهمت الآتى فعلا
هو قاهرى الأصل ولكنه يعيش فى طنطا. وبذلك لا يسمع الأصوات
ولكن عندما يعود للقاهرة (من آن لآخر لأنه قاهرى) يصبح مثل القاهريين
شكرا على لفت الإنتباه

You're right
But "I'm Cairene" doesn't only mean that he behaves like Cairenes. It really means that he is from Cairo and so he behaves like Cairene people

I suggest asking that guy mentioned in the text to show us his identity card to know if he is a Cairene or not.

Well, Mr Essam
"I'm Cairen" can only mean he behaves like Cairens if it (the sentence) is used as a main clause after "When"clause - like the following:

When I am in Cairo, I'm a Cairene. I don't turn either.
(Note the fullstop here)
But the writer wrote it as follows:

When I am in Cairo, I'm a Cairene , I don't turn either. I hardly hear a siren there.
(See that it is a parenthetical sentence to give additional information)

Without the parenthetical sentence it reads:

When I am in Cairo, I don't turn either.
