NOTE
Still can go after a negative auxiliary when we express surprise. Compare these sentences.
I still don't feel well. (= I still feel ill.)

You don't still feel sick, do you? (= I am surprised that you still feel sick.)

Compare these sentences.

Our teacher always gives us a test.

Our teacher is always giving us tests.

Our teacher always gives us a test
expresses a habit using always in the Present Simple Tense.

Our teacher is always giving us a test
expresses annoyance, anger or irritation for a repeated action using always in the Present Progressive Tense.

But this is an A-level rule that even our secondary students don`t have in their books, so we shouldn`t confuse them. It`s a good rule for them to KNOW, though.

1. We will use the phone only for business reasons.
2. ... someone had been watching it.
3. ... had been taking (it should be was taking but it isn`t one of the choices; or a period of time should be mentioned to give a correct meaning)

1. The captain`s job was to prevent more deaths.
