اخطاء بكتب الوزارة فى اللغة الانجليزية!!!!!!!!

Know- have known - Knew- was knowing
If we look at this sentence I think there is no correct answer
so in this case the only near answer is Knew
but how it can be explained
the sentence refer to past action so we should say had known
so is it a mistake

There`s a similar sentence at the top of SB p.62. There`s a given answer. It refers to the PRESENT
I wish I knew (NOW) what I was going to do when I leave school

On the same page ex.2 b
I don`t know where my friends are
It is answered as
I wish I knew where my friends were

Again on TB P.192
Listening Task: find the mistake and correct it
The same sentence is given and corrected as: knew
